Artist Information

2019 was a turning point where making Art for Kimberley changed from a lifelong hobby to a passion. Actively continuing her self-driven Art & Art Business Education, it's become her chosen profession.

Based in a beautiful part of the North Shore of Lake Superior in Minnesota, her current work leans to Northwoods Aesthetics and location based content. Inspired by Nature, she paints and designs work featuring the Boreal Forest and Lake Shore Landscapes, Northern Lights, Wildlife, Beloved Family Pets, Water and Light.

Following the encouragement of a Board Member, she joined the artists' cooperative and began displaying work at the Northwoods Pioneer Gallery and Gifts in Castle Danger, Minnesota towards the end of 2021 till present. In 2023, she was invited to display at The Cross River Heritage Center in Schroeder Minnesota.

In 2023, she attended training provided through Springboard for the Arts and participated in an artist mentorship meeting, leaving motivated to show work at Vendor Markets, including the Agate Bay Crafters in Two Harbors, Minnesota. In December, Kimberley was very grateful to be awarded a Growth Fund Grant by Springboard for the Arts to further develop her Arts Business.  This website and some of the displayed work, is in part funded by that grant.

Kimberley joined the Professional Artists Association and her 2024 Art Season kicked off with a stall at the Ely Winter Festival - Arts and Crafts Market. Through 2024, Kimberley intends to show at more markets, enter juried painting contests, publish a multi-lingual children's book she has written and illustrated, and create 260 paintings by December 15th.  This additional work will be available online through this website both for originals and printable options including fashion wear, skateboard decks, a variety of homewares, and wall art.

Bright colors, silhouettes, organic shapes and snowy scenes are her signature. If Kimberley's style speaks to you, she’d love to work with you in the future. Fill in the form using the Commissions button at the top of the page or email sales@43creek.com to discuss how we can collaborate on your project.

This image is a painting titled Sherbet Loon Sunset, it is an acrylic landscape portrait style painting. From the centerline the sky and water reflect clouds of yellow, orange, pink, purple and blue. The thickest section being mid 2/3rds is mostly sherbet orange. The background shows a curved line of pine trees in black, brown, green and light green flecks. The foreground has a poplar tree with a bluey grey textured bark pattern and green, light green and yellow flecks representing the leaves. Mid ground in the water is a loon swimming and at least 1 chick on its back. Movement is suggested by rings /ripples in the water. Up above at the top of the image and slightly to the right of the loon a faint moon is becoming visible in the darker sky.
This image depicts a Native American home called a Teepee, light seems to come from within giving its walls a yellow and orange glow. From it's top smoke is leaving and mingling with northern lights painted in yellow and greens against a starry sky with dark blue, blue, purple and pink heading down to a rolling mountain range covered in pine trees. In the foreground snow is visible on the ground and mounded around the teepee edges. A set of traditional show shoes are set into the snowy ground. This painting is in watercolor and was a gift to a close Native American friend who's Mom had passed on. In their culture Northern Lights have an important spiritual role and link with those who've passed on. The night she passed we had one of the brightest displays overhead in real life.
This is a watercolor painting called Purple Hazy Hills. The artist thinks the clouds are some of her best to date. The sky is a mid blue fading to light blue, into pink as it approaches Purple Hills in 5 different shades to imply depth and distance. The clouds are numerous and billowing with white, blue, pink, purple and grey shades used. It is a long thin horizontal style.
This is the Professional Artists Association logo. It is displayed as the artist is a member. Three concentric circles in a maroony brown, the first two quite close together. The 3rd around a centered yellow stylization of the letters AAP looking like a box joined to a backwards @ symbol in yellow. Evenly spaced between the 2nd and 3rd circles are the words "PROFESSIONAL ARTIST ASSOCIATION". The background is white.
Snowy Cabin 9X11" Original Watercolor Painting. Instead of using watercolor paper the artist has used a page from the Gray's Anatomy Medical Textbook. On top of this an image of a wooden cabin, with a heavily snow covered roof and red chimney pipe. The cabin sits behind a snow bank. In the background is a dense forest of pine and deciduous trees. Black Ink, Silver Glitter Sparkel Ink, define the image. White, Brown, Red, Grey and Black watercolor paint is used for color. It is a semi-realistic style based on the artists original photograph taken in the winter of 2023.

43 Creek Land Acknowlegement

43 Creek is located inland from Lake Superior in North Minnesota, within the ancestorial land of the Indigenous Ojibwe People from the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, prior to the colonial 1854 Treaty and delineation of the 1854 Ceded Territory.

To this day Anishinaabe are STILL HERE, as active landowners and water protectors. Residing both mixed within the general population on privately owned land and on reservations, deepening a vibrant layer of living history and active culture in the area.

A visit to The Grand Portage National Monument, Rendezvous Days Pow Wow and learning about the Land Back Movement is highly recommended. A Pow Wow is a Native American tradition that brings together many different tribes and communities. Pow Wows are cultural celebrations that include dancing, singing, socializing, crafts, arts, and food.
