ice2sides is the name of the photograph displayed as background in the contact section. It was taken on Highway 1 on the way to Ely MN following perfect weather conditions to form hoar ice. From bottom left corner heading to the right side and stopping about 3/4's across the page at an angle of about 20 degrees is a two laned road, this is Highway 1. Both sides of the road have freshly plowed snowbank waves and behind those are thick forests of pine trees. The right side is a much taller type of pine with longer needles and is in shadow giving a darker green to grey contrast to the ice crystal and snow flake formations on the foliage and trunks. The left side of the road is in full sunshine and presents an image of fully covered sparking ice and snow covered trees with minimal shadows defining them. This continues into the horizon. The sky above is a beautiful open light blue. Very faintly wispy clouds are dissipating as the morning warms up.
